Solar Gets Heart Smart With CPR/AED Training
In support of corporate safety initiatives, Solar employees from both Eastern and Western PA recently completed CPR/AED (Automated External Defibrillator) training sessions. Attendees learned the most updated procedures for administering CPR to adults, children and infants. They also gained hands-on practice on using an AED to restore a regular heart rhythm during sudden cardiac arrest.
According to the American Heart Association, “Cardiac arrest is reversible if it’s treated in minutes. By performing Hands-Only CPR to the beat of the classic disco song “Stayin’ Alive,” you can double or even triple a victim’s chance of survival.” Bob Sandora, Vice President of Continuous Improvement, notes, “Although we hope none of our employees will ever need to use these skills, it is imperative to be prepared to act quickly in the event of any emergency. This training gives people the knowledge and confidence to become first responders and save a life.”
The classes offered at Solar align with OSHA’s Best Practices for Workplace First Aid Training Programs. Attendees received a certification of completion for Bloodborne Pathogen Safety Awareness and a Heartsaver® First Aid CPR AED card from the American Heart Association.
