]]> Souderton, PA, January 11, 2019 – 51ÁÔÆæ, Inc. has filed a Patent Application with the US Patent Office, application number 15/999,873 for a high pressure, rapid gas quenching vacuum furnace utilizing an isolation transformer in the blower motor power system. The gas quench with a 600 HP motor operates at 460 volts in Argon gas, utilizing a double wound, Magnetic Specialties, Inc. electrical isolation transformer, primary winding 1:1 to the secondary winding, with a Variable Speed Drive and solid state electrical spike protection for motor arc suppression.

]]> Souderton, PA, June 9, 2017 – William and Myrtle Jones, primary owners of the 51ÁÔÆæ Family of Companies, are pleased to announce a few organization changes within the Solar companies.  Roger Jones, has been appointed CEO for the 51ÁÔÆæ four vacuum heat treating locations:  51ÁÔÆæ, Souderton, PA; 51ÁÔÆæ, Hermitage, PA; 51ÁÔÆæ, Fontana, CA; 51ÁÔÆæ, Greenville, SC.  Roger previously held the position of Corporate President of 51ÁÔÆæ.  Roger started the 51ÁÔÆæ vacuum heat treating business with his father, William Jones back in 1983.

Also, Jamie Jones has been promoted to President for the 51ÁÔÆæ Souderton location.  Jamie previously served as the Vice President of Operations at the Souderton location, and has been with the company for over 20 years.

Similarly, Trevor Jones has been promoted to CEO for Solar Manufacturing, Magnetic Specialties, and the newly developed Vacuum Pump Services Corp.  Trevor has been active in the furnace operations and R&D department at Solar since 2004, and he previously held the position of Principal Engineer at 51ÁÔÆæ.

]]> September 7, 2016 – Within the 51ÁÔÆæ group of companies, we have over one hundred mechanical vacuum roughing pumps and mechanical holding pumps.  Of our fleet of furnaces, some are aging, still in operation even at 30-plus years old.  Mechanical pump life is on the order of five to ten years, depending on usage.  So it became necessary to establish our own vacuum pump service center, which we have named Vacuum Pump Services Corp.

Currently, there are three employees:  Bob Sandora, Vice President of Operations, a longtime 51ÁÔÆæ employee, with over 40 years of mechanical vacuum pump experience, and Steve MacInnes, Manager of Operations, with 15 years of mechanical vacuum pump experience, and another recent pump technician.

According to William R. Jones, CEO of the 51ÁÔÆæ family of companies, “We know vacuum pumps:  when to have the pumps serviced, and how to service them correctly.  This is the base reason for establishing our own organization.  We have also serviced pumps for other organizations, even including our competitors.  So we are eager to share our knowledge and expertise, and to offer our services broadly across industry.â€

Hermitage, PA, January 27, 2016 – Within a short period of 2½ months from breaking ground, 51ÁÔÆæ of Western PA’s construction project to house the largest commercial vacuum furnace in the world is progressing on time. Aided by an unseasonably warm winter, the new 18,000 square foot building should be fully enclosed by the end of January. Once the 20 ton crane is installed and the floor is poured, the building will be ready to accept delivery of the massive chambers in mid-February from Youngberg Industries located in Belvidere, Illinois. Due to the magnitude of the project, the vacuum furnace will be cooperatively built on site by both Solar Manufacturing and 51ÁÔÆæ of Western PA employees. Bob Hill, President of 51ÁÔÆæ of Western PA, states “We are all anxiously waiting to roll up our sleeves to build this one of a kind furnace. We continue to accept deliveries of all of the major components from our sister company Solar Manufacturing. Our warehouse next door is filling up fast with these critical items. It will be extremely exciting to assemble and ultimately place into production this one of a kind vacuum furnace which is primarily earmarked to serve the needs of the aerospace and nuclear markets around the world.â€

]]> Solar Manufacturing trade show booth at ASM Heat Treat 2015Souderton, PA, October 28 – 51ÁÔÆæ and Solar Manufacturing exhibited at this year’s ASM Heat Treating Society Conference and Exhibition held in Detroit, Michigan.  On display were 51ÁÔÆæ’ vacuum heat treating services, as well as, Solar Manufacturing’s Mentor® furnace, and the newly developed hot zone.

Along with the displays, three Solar personnel gave presentations during the conference sessions.  Bob Hill, President of 51ÁÔÆæ of Western PA, gave a presentation on Vacuum Furnaces Were Made for Additive Manufacturing.  Don Jordan, Vice President/Corporate Metallurgist, presented a session on Minimizing Alpha Case during Vacuum Furnace Heat Treating, and Roger Jones, Corporate President of 51ÁÔÆæ, presented on Retiring Paper-Based Maintenance Systems within Commercial Heat Treating Shops.  These presentations can be found on our website at solaratm.com/tech-downloads/.

Bill Jones, CEO of 51ÁÔÆæ, also took part in a panel discussion on New Developments and Opportunities in Heat Treating, and his focus was on New Developments in Vacuum Processing.

In addition, Nick Cordisco, Electrical Engineer and Service Manager for Solar Manufacturing, presented two workshops in our booth giving a live demonstration of proper Temperature Uniformity Surveys (T.U.S).

A highlight for the 51ÁÔÆæ organization, Roger Jones received the 2015 George H. Bodeen Heat Treating Achievement Award, along with a plaque for serving as the HTS President from 2013-2015.
